Simular Artists
We are definitely going to have our artist playing piano in our music video but not actually playing a role of an actor.
We are going to make our music video up of Vignettes which are short stories combined in to one narrative.
Here are 3 examples of songs/videos that have used this technique as well as having the artist playing a musical instrument.
Josh Groban- February Song
We can see here the use of piano we are hoping to use in our final piece. We are particularly looking at the different camera angles that make a quite boring video look more interesting. We can see the change of colour filter to sepia and the different and very important close up of his musical instrument and his features.
We are aiming to use a grande piano in our piece as that is the main musical instrument we hear in our song, as well as close up shots showing his different features and skills of playing the piano.
The Fray- How to save a life
In this music video we can relate to the topics in two ways. Firstly we can see that the main artist is playing piano as well as there being different stories going on around him. Secondly the different stories all have the same link of sadness that we are aiming to include in our music video. Here the lighting however is very different to what we are aiming for in the sense that it is bright, stark and almost clinical lighting.

We are looking at this video due to the different uses of Vignettes. This is a useful video to look at as we want to compile our video of different vignettes as well as integrating shots from the artist. These vignettes are also based on a linking story of sadness and a sense of not fitting in. However it is aimed at showing a message that says "be proud of who you are".
We can link to this in our video as we want to show the sadness of the individuals story but to also that sad event can always be resolved and a happy ending will eventually occur.

Possible Filming Stills
These shots are set in the school hall.
The hall is in a prime location and always has the sun spilling in to it.
We worked out that the curtains are on pulleys so we can open them as slowly as we want for maximum effect.
The light casts a great effect accross the piano.
We are deffinitely going to use this grand piano in our music video.

Eventually we are going to play about with different filter settings to work out what colour will work best for our video. These would include filters like Sepia, Black and white, greyscale etc.

Ideal Audience Member
Her name is Lauren and she is 21 years old. She is currently studying English Literature at the University of York and is staying in a flat with her best friends. She walks to class and on the way listens to her iPod , she also likes to listen to audiobooks on the way to get her brain motivated.
She likes to buy music but not very often. She instead prefers to watch artists on YouTube and discover new songs by independent artists. She is a fan of Indie but does like themainstream Pop sound. She likes to listen to Oasis , The Feeling, James Blunt , Bob Dylan and Adele and has a few albums but not many.
She does not go to manylocal gigs but she has been to a few festivals, she particularly likes Glastonbury because it features a range of music that she likes.
She likes to play the piano and took lessons when she was a child. She never really appreciated it then but she does now.
