This is the front cover of our Digi Pack. We decided to do it in black and white/Gray scale as we thought it would look more authentic and almost like an old photograph. I really like the way the back ground makes the artist seem in the foreground and alot bolder. We wanted to focus on her prop (the guitar and her clothing more than her actual face as these features are what makes up her image. With the boots being tied but loose it shows that she is relaxed and goes for comfort. By showing a bit of flesh between the end of her boot and the beginning of her trouser leg shows that she is still feminine and showing her figure whilst still trying to be natural. By having one leg straight and one leg bent shows that more of her figure and body shape which defines her more. The guitar shows she is an indie /alternative artist as this is the most common prop for these artists to use. By having her up a tree makes the image seem more unique rather than just standing buy a back ground or possibly in an artificial situation. This gives the artist a certain uniqueness whilst still showing the classic signs she is a indie/alt artist. We decided to call her Laure as her name is "Laura A" so we just blended the sounds together and played about and it seemed to fit. We have given her a feminine font to give her a girly twist but still staying in the indie/alt boundaries. We did the writing in white as it stood out the boldest against the image background. We placed it in the corner so it wasn't totally centre of attention mirroring the placement of her face. By doing this i think that both these areas compliment each other and link in well with the name of the album. We decided to do this in the same font and colour because it stood out most and fitted with the rest of the theme of the album cover so far. We chose to have it in this position as it flows with the direction of the branch which makes it seem calming. This too links in with the type of music she plays even more so showing off the indie/alt roots.
For the insert we decided to keep with the black and white/ gray scale theme to link with the front cover making all areas shadow each other but with a difference of image and effect. This time we focused more on her upper body, showing more of her face and even more of her prop. We decided to use her laying down in a field to again have another very unique effect but staying with the indie/alt theme. We chose to use a field with daisies as this shows her feminine side. We wanted her in the foreground more this time s the focus was more on her face and upper body, unlike before where we wanted to get the scene she was in and the position she was sitting in recognised. By having her laying down we cant see all of her face which adds mystery to the artist which i think i is a nice and quirky twist on the the "simple, natural and beautiful theme" We wanted to add something else to the image to make it a little less plain, Though we aimed to have her as quite an unassuming artist to send out a genuine vibe for her as a person. We decided to add her name on the bottom of her guitar, to make a subtle change with a bold outline. This reminds the consumers of her name and what she is as a person. They will link guitars with her as an artist and remember her name being printed on the bottom of hers. I like the way she is laying down holding the guitar as it gives of a mysterious vibe yet everyone seems to think it suits her and her subtlety. It makes her seem relaxed as a person and as an artist and will reflect on her type of music. Also the main image has been slightly distorted on photoshop on the Macs to make it a little bit different and a little less plain but still keeping a subtle theme.
This is our back cover of our Digi Pack. Again we have kept with the black and white/gray scale theme so it links in with the rest of the album and makes it look like it belongs. This time we used her back as the image so we have seen her at all angles but still not her face completely which makes her seem kind of mysterious but in a genuine way. In every shot she has her guitar and her hat, the two props that define her and her indie/alt image. She seems genuine as she doesn't want her face being the centre of attention or central image. I layed the camera on the grass with a slight tilt upwards so we can see all f her but the grass is in the foreground, linking to the natural theme. I like the way the tree has been used with the writing. We did this as it is slightly off set but a very good container for the writing making it look structured in a natural way. As the main trunk is grey we could have used black or white as the boldest colours as it stands out best so we decided to do the main songs in white and the bonus tracks in black so there is a linking contrast. This time we decided to add no effect to the main image and we though it would make the page look to busy which would mean puling away from our simple subtle theme.
