There is a Theorist called Richard dyer who has created a "Star Theory"
Dyer proposes that a star is an image, not a real person, who is constructed and created out of a range of m a t e r i a l s. This can be though advertisments, magazines, fashion companies etc.
For example you can see on programmes like the XFactor and Pop Idol this process of change. It shows how a normal person is styled and coached to create an image or front which the public are supposed to fall in love with and aspire to be. This can be transported to the public through the television show, magazines and tabloids.
For example we see people on Xfactor like Katie Waissel who was on Xfactor 2010. We saw her in the auditions as being slightly different, but the show, stylists and producers grabbed on to this and made her way more eccentric than initially intended by her. And once someone thinks they are being changed for fame and fortune they are extremely unlikely to reject this front that they are being given.
One of the major changes we can see is the change of her hair half way through the show. At the beginining she had blonde curly hair and then she suddenly came on stage one week and she had it all cut short and dyed brown. This is a very good example of someone being changed through media, press and show image.
